Great beginner rod
My father-in-law bought this for my son. He's 2 and we used it this fall for the first time, and caught a largemouth bass! The casting is very easy with a simple push button hold and release. My son couldn't cast it yet, but I could (I'm not a fisherman) and he was able to reel in several fish we caught! He didn't want to touch the fish, but the rod is fantastic.

Amazing!
I was fishing off the coastal waters of Florida when my first mate John brought out the Scooby Doo set up. The size and proporation were excellent for my matey. Rrrrrr.....he caught a marlin.

I am happy with the rod for the most part. I wanted something small and light, but that still qualified as an actual fishing rod/reel to keep in my backpack for occasional fishing in the ponds we come across while hiking. I could find relatively few products that fit the bill, and this item looked to be the best balance of price, quality, and size. I ordered through Amazon.com from Taylor Gifts and received my order promptly (3 or four days).

I was sent a confirmation notice immediately via e-mail which contained a link to UPS which allowed me to track my order across the country. This was very useful. Upon initial inspection The structural quality appears to be quite good. It looks and feels solidly built, and functionally it seems sound. The reel holds a fair amount of line; Easily enough for a day of fishing, even if you get a few birds-nests or have to cut the line, but When I tried it out for the first time last week, I found that the line had retained the shape of the reel and played out in coils.

I was still able to fish with it but it definately needs a different kind of line than plain old stren monofilament. I didn't catch anything (probably not the rods' fault), so I don't know how it will handle an actual fish but just from handling it I am pretty confident it could hold its' own against anything under 5 pounds, maybe even bigger. The reel turns smoothly but because of the design you have to guide the line across the reelface with your finger to get it to wind in an even fashion (this is not really a big hindrance or anything, but I thought I should mention it).

The big issue is the casting system (We were fishing through the ice so I didn't get to cast). There is a screw-type mechanism on the side of the reel which puts tension on the reel, sort of like a drag setting on a conventionally sized rod. Apparently (directions for use were nonexistant) you turn this all the way out to let the reel spin freely and use the weight of the tackle to spin the reel (whole unit must spin to play out line) when you cast. There is a rubber stop button on top of the reel which acts as a brake to keep the reel from spinning if a fish bites.

The price was good, but I would gladly have paid a little more for a reel with better ease of use; a miniature version of the standard open-face reel would be perfect, and I can't believe the manufacturer didn't put a screw cap on the end of the rod, it would be absolutely perfect to keep tackle in if they did. in conclusion: Size/weight - excellent. Quality - good. Ease of use - fair. Value/price - good. For the price, this is worth keeping in your pack/glovebox/kayak. If you don't try to reel in a lake trout with it, it should stand up pretty well.

Pocket Fishing Rod
This was purchased by me as a gift for an avid fisherman. He was delighted to receive it and will most likely use it. I do wish the reel had come with fishing line so it could be used immediately. The idea is really novel and I meant it as a sort of gag gift since the person I gave it to is retiring soon. However, he really liked it as a usable fishing rod.

does the job very well
This is the 4th set of these ceiling rod holders I have ordered from this company -- both the product and the company are excellent-- very reasonable price for a solid metal ceiling rod rack set. Each set(front and back)holds 4 rods AND REELS(accomodates either fresh or salt -- very heavy weight to ultra lite-- and you control the distance between the front and back racks, therefore you can have a rack or racks for poles of any size (one of mine holds four 10 ft+poles and their companion reels-- another set holds 4 ultralite 5 foot freshwater poles and companion reels.)

By the way, this is the only company I have found that offers this product--it was delivered very promptly and well packaged (really doesn't need the secure packaging for they are as solid as a rock.) All hard ware came with the rack(two long screws). I would suggest that some self-stick foam tape be used to protect the smaller diameter section (the front rod section)--However, this is really not that necessary -- my hangup. 12 gauge steel for real
This thing will likely weigh more than the rods it holds! Very pleased. Comes with screws to mount to studs; i used some 3" 3/16 toggle bolts. I was scared to use a molly bolt...like i said, those steel plates are heavy!

No poles!!
I guess these work as nets, but beware, they do not come with poles. Never assume, you know what happens.................... And I did not see any poles that you can get for these. If anyone knows the answer to that one, please contact me!

Poor Customer Service
The product itself is fine, but the company who sells it is the problem. When I didn't receive the item after two weeks I emailed Douglas Net Company twice, but received no reply. After tracking down a phone number on my own - it is not posted on their Amazon page, look for yourself - the man was very nice, but could not provide a tracking number or any other information about the shipping.

When it still hadn't arrived a week later I called back and he again was very nice and agreed to send a replacement, which I promptly received in 4 days. I rate them poorly because of failure to provide tracking information, which is pretty standard practice these days, for failing to reply to emails, and for not providing contact information on their Amazon page. I would not buy from them again.

Nice and sturdy, but bigger than I had expected
There's nothing wrong with these nets. They're sturdy and will last and last. However, I wanted something to catch the critters the cats schlepp in through the cat door, and for that purpose, they're a bit oversized. I'd recommend getting out a measuring tape and making sure you want nets of this size. Also, they don't come with a pole.

Kevlar Review
Seller was great, got my product fast. I just wish I thought to ask the weight, because I needed something a bit stronger even though Kevlar is supposed to be the strongest stuff on the market. Very pleased with seller, would definitely buy from him again.

As Promised
Delivered as promised, good value, good quality. I use kevlar thread for F3P profile models under 5 oz.

Strong, but not colorfast
This thread is super strong. You can cut yourself with it if you try to break it with your hands. I even had trouble cutting it with a cheap scissors. It's great for reattaching buttons, especially on high-stress areas like pants. The fabric or button will probably fail before the thread ever does.

On the down side, it's not very colorfast. I used the thread to do some mending, and after about a month's use, the color is completely gone, revealing the native yellowish color of Kevlar. The thread is still intact and holding quite well, it's just not black anymore.

Very Useful and Convienant
The vest fits well and has a good layout of pockets. Its well vented, dries quickly and doesnt get heavy when wet. After one season of wading the schuylkill river (30 walks), everything still works. Im worried about the small zippers, they get used a lot while wading. For the price, this is a weekender's dream.

A nice vest, just in time
I purchased this fishing vest to relace an old zipper style for a late Fall trip to the wild trout area on the East Carson River (incidently, just north of the Clark Fork). I like the one snap closure. It is light-weight, breathes well (and dries, too), and has reasonably-sized pockets. My only complaint is that the vest I received had one pocket where a side of the velcro closure was missing.

Fortunately, my brother had some spare material and I sewed a new piece on at camp the first evening(a great spot close to Hangman's Bridge with piped water at each site). Now it is better than new! Cannot give it Five-Stars due to the QC problem, but for the price it is very nice.

Cute wellies
The boots are about a half size bigger than their size says. They are way bigger than my other men's size 6 shoes. The 'cleated' sole is not cleated like an athletic shoe, it just has big treads, thankfully. I know everyone looking at these probably already knows that, but I didn't. I know this is unorthodox, but I bought these just as cute, cheap rain boots. I saw some similar boots on Britain's Next Top Model and knew I could rock them.

I love them and can't wait for it to rain. The outside color is only slighty green; mostly brown. The inside, however, is a nice olive green. It will look great when I fold them down. It's funny that these cost less than most women's fashion rain boots, when they are made of at least twice as much rubber. They seem really sturdy. I hope they hold up.

The first pair I ordered were too big, even for my shoe size 15, but I sent them back and got a 14 without a hassle and they fit fine. I'm excited about trying them out in my East Texas pond and Colorado creek cabin! Thanks Amazon.

Great reel for the money!
Its a great reel for the money, so far I have land a Drum and some Turtles on it.

Bulletproof Performance
My Abu-Garcia 6500-C3 has been going strong for over 15 years now without any problems. It's just as strong and smooth as the day I bought it.

The reel is built with quality, durability, and ruggedness in mind. Handling it lets you know that you're holding a reel that won't let you down. I've winched in some huge channel cats on this reel without any problems. It handles everything from light monofilament to heavy braids with equal ease. Casting is smooth and trouble free so long as you do your part, and retrieval is just as smooth.

The only area of improvement that the reel could use is to upgrade the drag discs. Though the drag is fairly smooth, it could use some extra smoothing out and more hold when cranked all the way down. This is not a big deal as upgraded drag discs are readily available, and it's best to change out the drag washers every year or two anyways.

Good scale
The scale is really acurate. It seems sturdy on both ends but in the middle the plastic seems like regular plastic not much of a heavy duty body if you ask me. It does what it needs to do and the Metric vs English measurments is cool to have. The buttons are easy to use no fancy schmasy going on here.

Nice second rod. Could have more line loops and needs a place to attach hook.

Good rod, and great deal
This may be the cheapest rod you can ever find. Plus, it is distributed in sportsauthority stores, about 9.99 each. So you can try them in person if you have sportsauthority nearby. Many people doubt them just because of the too low price tag, which are cheaper than many children rods. In fact, they are really decent rods. In shimano's catolog, it even mentions that this series is good for light salt water fishing, which it does. I mainly fish in Long Island. My fx rods are no rust in guides after one year use.

I have three FX rod, 7' 6.6' and 5'. Because of their prices, I am not forced to take too much care of them. I just put them into trunk, and never worry about them. after 1 year use, there are no indication of any damage. I bought them, because they are good for friends who happend with me, and also want to try fishing. I used them too. they are sensitive, decent quality. I highly recommend them. Their too low prices should not be the reason keeping you from them.

Poor shipping
The rod was shipped in two pieces an the lower shaft and the rod tip was sticking out of the box about 4 inches with no protection at all. Only an idiot would ship the rod this way. I will never purchase again from this company. You see that I am only a number and my account means nothing to them. I am still waiting for a replacement. Maybey I should not hold my breath.

Great Overall Buy
I purchased this for my Husband for Christmas. My original intent was to get him something that he could combine all his smaller tackle boxes into. This is not the box to buy. It is on the smaller side. But it is a great tackle box and he has decided to move one of his older smaller boxes into this one. He is really happy with the box and I am too.

The price is VERY reasonable in comparison to the same size boxes in the Bait and Tackle Stores. So I would suggest going to the bait and tackle stores do some measurements before making a purchase online to ensure the proper size box. But again for the price you cannot beat the Plano product you receive.

PROS: Great Price, Great Looking Box, PLANO brand, Great color combo, did not have to go to the store right before Christmas!

CONS: The hinges seem a bit flimsy, Small in size

Not What It Says!
My wife and I use "telescopic rods" for fishing out of our kayaks. This rod collapses to a good managable size, and is only 4'6" extended (perfect for our use). The problem is this item is described as having "stainless steel guides with smooth ceramic inserts"! It absolutely does not have inserts, ceramic or otherwise!! This was one of the main reasons for buyingShakespeare® Telescoping Spinning Rod this rod over Eagle Claw's "Pack it". Very disapointing as this was bought for specific trip; too late to get something else.

good but not quite as adverited
this is a good rod but it says it is a med, after using it some i would say it is closer to a light-med. still a good rod and feels like it is strong. is it easy to cast those "little" casts that you need to get around stuff so i do like it.

Good organizer.
I use this to organize my beads. I works great. It feels like a quality product. I think it meets beading needs more than all the bead organizers I've looked at and it's much cheaper.

Before you buy...
Make sure you know how big this tackle box is. It is very small (see dimensions in the description above). I didn't realize this until I saw it in person at a store. It looks to be perfectly fine, but it was too small for my needs.

I've never been fishing...
But I might try it just for another use for this box, I also use mine for beads/amateur jewelry crafting as mentioned in the previous review but my favorite use is for holding all the accessories for my sewing machine.

Millions of use for this well designed box, and the quality is first rate.

I'd love to have a nickel for every kid that had one of these for his/her first tackle box. Chances are, it was a filthy mess when the kid got it, and he or she cleaned it up and had it shining the first time they took it out to the creek bank. I don't have any kids, but I recently gave mine away to a friend who is getting into fishing for the first time.

This tackle box is great for someone just starting out, or for the person who has to make themselves carry as little gear along as possible, otherwise, they'd bring everything in their garage. Durable, with plenty of room for an extra spool of line, pliers, knife, and gloves, along with plenty of room for lures, hooks, sinkers, etc. You can't go wrong with this one.

Great net - sturdy - huge!
The other reviews are correct, you do need to get your own handle, but we found one that worked great.

I was tired of buying those $1-$5 nets at the stores and they break in like a week or two. My son is 6 and is really into bugs, so we go through a ton of bug nets. This one is great - it's huge - you really could catch a small animal in it and it is sturdy.
I'm so glad I bought it - it's great quality and a great price! I'm so done with buying the cheap plastic ones. This one is metal - kinda reminds me of a net you use at the pool to skim the water.

All his friends and neighbors love it too!

3 year old LOVES it
This was a gift for Grandbaby's third birthday. A very sturdy net and though she hasn't caught any "bubeyes" yet she has managed to net her 2 year old sister about a hundred times. I would say that the three year old rates it a 10 but the two year old is a bit more negative.

If you have a young hunter in the house we would vote yes for this product.

Do I Really Need a Net without a Handle?
I had butterflies eating my garden to the point of having plant skeletons rather than lush greenery. Not wanting to foul the environment , I decided that catching the butterflies would be the appropriate solution. Thus, I ordered and promptly received this butterfly net.

Yes, it's clear from the picture that this net comes without a handle.

And, yes, I understand that the error was mine in expecting a butterfly net to have a handle.

So, I'll accept the responsibility for the handleless net. And for the 30 minutes it took me to find a handle that would more or less fit this net.

However. . .

my net had a rip in it that had obviously been repaired before mailing it out, making my net a second rather than first quality product.

Add to that the fact that the net was mailed in a flimsy cellophane covering, no box, no protection whatsoever for the net.

I am not a happy camper.

Just a Scale
The Scale is cheap and does it's job. However, when you hook up an item to take a measurement, you have to play around with the clip so that the item being weighed does not hit the scale.

Needleworkers Dream Bobbin Container

Didn't get a chance to use it...wasn't the right one for my catch & release fisherman
I purchased this scale for my husband to use for fishing (and admit was also excited about being able to use it for household stuff, too). It *looked* like a great product when we got it, but I ended up returning it because my husband, who likes to fish mainly catch-and-release, didn't like the hook.

Aparently, there are other scales out there that have a clamp that attaches to the fish's mouth, instead of having to gouge the hook through the fish (like this one). So I don't have any product experience to share for this one, but wanted to point out the design issue that may make or break it for others.

Arrived late, did not work, poor company support
Despite a tracking number, this order did not get shipped out for some reason. Based on other reviews, it sounded like the perfect thing to weigh my suitcases, and it was supposed to get shipped right away. Finally, it arrived a week late. It did not work. Called the company (Berkley) and they just wanted to read the instructions to me, and kept telling me it was the batteries.

I told them several times it's not the batteries, as it switches on just fine. It just won't weigh anything. But I humored them and checked the batteries 3 times, took them out, put them back in, etc. Switches on, won't register anything but 0 lb. 0 oz. After 25 minutes on the phone they said I'd have to send the current one in first before they sent a replacement. With my trip coming up, I don't have the time for that. I'll go for another brand of scale.

Exellent tool for international traveller
I bought this scale to weight my suitcases before I travel. I always travel with maximum weight allowed, this lets me pack my suitcases to the maximum weight allowed in peace and quite at home. Prior to this I would use a personal scale, which was not very accurate, and often I would have to repack my suitcase at the airport, which was rather inconvenient. This is little marvel.

IT SUCKS!!!
It's in the title. On my first try using it, the reel mechanism broke and I can't get it back in. It's a hoax. DO NOT buy this fishing rod. I would rather spend time trying to fix an engine then fixing this.

GARBAGE!!!!!!
I know kids are hard on things but don't you take that into account when you design something for them. I bought three rods (over $[...] total) and each one them broke down within one hour of using them.

Complete garbage!
I purchased two of these. One for an eight year old and the other a ten year old. These things are garbage and we actually just gave up exchanging them and they have been sitting in the garage collecting dust ever since. The lines constantly get tangled and they do not stay working for more than a few casts. I would highly suggest that you look at something different for your children.
